Nationality: Irish

Synopsis: I came into manual therapies in 2007 after 20 years of work sitting at a desk. I was an avid sportsman in my “younger days”, playing 1st team university Soccer. I was keen triathlete and now focus on road cycling. Now I  keep fit for “life”.

The ability to remove, lessen or reduce an individual’s pain with manual therapies has changed my life, to be able to restore a body’s nature state of homeostasis and lessen the load and stresses that today’s lifestyle bestows on all of us is a great gift.

Tutors and Influences

I have had the privilege and honor of being trained by some of the world’s leading pioneers to the advancement of manual therapies.

John Sharkey, one of my first teachers, has been instrumental through the National training center in Dublin in establishing neuromascular therapy as a leading modality for the treatment of myofascial pain and its approach to providing the conditions for the body to heal itself. “We don’t fix anything”. It is a hands on approach to soft tissue treatment, which I have found invaluable.

Leon Chaitow is world renowned osteopath, naturopath and author. His approch and training in osteopathic soft tissue methods have pioneering over the last 40 years. Techniques such as osteopathic positional release, strain-counter strain, muscle energy techniques and the promotion of fascia as major component in pain syndromes are all well accepted and adopted.

Judith Delaney is highly respected and developer of neuromuscular therapy american version. She is an international educator and continues to strive to form bridge between conventional and complementary therapies, the modality stateside is more methodical using gliding strokes and frictioning techniques in the treatment of myofascial trigger points.

Robbie Goodrum seminars introduced me to the modalities of osteopathic HVT and articulatons as well as diversified chiropractic, drop table and instrument adjusting (similar to an activator). These I feel fit well into the balanceing of the human body overall.

Gray Cook has taken rehabilitation methods to new heights with his system of assessment and correction strategies. He is founder of the “Functional Movement” perspective, which looks at movement patterns and dysfunctions and tries to join the dots between what physical therapists of any modalities do, strength and conditioning coaches do and more importantly what the client does as part of any successful program back to health.

I presently run a busy clinic in Coleraine with clients from both sports and non sports backgrounds. I offer a service that caters for needs ranging from acute injuries to chronic pain therapy. My philosophy is that if you can move better you will feel better and this allows you to perform better in whatever you do. This could be in a work place or sports arena.
